Rostov NPP: Employees of Public Information Centre have participated in Poetry Day

On March 21, 2012 employees of Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP participated in the event, held in the central city library, and dedicated to the Poetry Day.

Poetry Days are held in Volgodonsk annually and each year they attract more and more admirers of oeuvre. This time guests of honor were Galina Lobodina, a member of Russian Union of Writers and museum worker, and Yekaterina Ostritsova, a member of Russian Union of Journalists and employee of Public Information Centre of the nuclear power plant. About 80 participants of the event – senior school students of the city and their teachers - became acquainted with their activities, and literary works.

Irina Altukhova, a Director of CCL, noted that the poetry celebration helps many people to reveal in themselves creative abilities and develop them. Nadezhda Timashkova, a resource specialist of the Centralized Library System and leader of the dedicated to the Poetry Day event, told school children that the celebration of this worldwide event meeting people committed to poetry, who live and work in the same city, has become a tradition in Volgodonsk.

At the conclusion of the event, Khristina Kovalchuk, a specialist of Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP, held a special mini-contest for school students and teachers for the “best rhyme” matching the words of the nuclear subject. The winners were awarded with memorable prizes.

In 1999 at the 30th session of the General Conference of UNESCO it was decided to celebrate the World Poetry Day on March 21. The first World Poetry Day was celebrated in Paris, where the headquarters of UNESCO is situated.
         
Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1000 MW. The power unit No.1 was commissioned in 2001 and the power unit No.2 – in December 2010. The power units No.3 and 4 are under construction.
