Rostov NPP: An athlete from nuclear power plant has become the first in SFD powerlifting championship

Maxim Bogdanov, an athlete of Rostov NPP athlete club, has won the first prize in the SFD powerlifting championship, exercising bench pressing in the 70 kg weight category.

Having shown his good results, Maxim completed Master of Sports qualifying standard and automatically became a member of the national team of Russia. He is currently preparing for the World Championship, which will take place in Sochi in May.

Also, in the SFD Championship Rostov NPP was represented by Viktor Philonenko, a health and fitness centre instructor of the nuclear power plant. He won the bronze medal in the weight category up to 110 kg.

The Rostov NPP is a branch of the “Rosenergoatom Concern” OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1000 MW. The power unit No.1 was commissioned in 2001 and the power unit No.2 – in December 2010. The power units No.3 and 4 are under construction.
