Rostov NPP passed scheduled emergency response exercises

On April 11, 2012 Rostov NPP passed the scheduled emergency response exercises under the guidance of the Director of the nuclear power plant Andrey Salnikov.

During the exercises there have been worked out practical skills of the shift “A” operational staff of the nuclear power plant, and emergency response teams in implementation of management activities, localization and liquidation of the emergency situation, as well as protection of the staff.

Following the results of the emergency response exercises, the activities of the emergency response teams and the staff received a positive evaluation both from experts and inspectors.

During the exercises the Rostov NPP power units No.1 and No.2 operated at the customary mode at the capacity specified by the dispatch schedule.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1000 MW. The power unit No.1 was commissioned in 2001 and the power unit No.2 – in December 2010. The power units No.3 and 4 are nowadays under construction.
