Rostov NPP ecologic management system meets the requirements of the National Standards

On May 23, 2011 the results of the inspection and estimation of the system of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC branch Rostov Nuclear Plant’s ecologic management system for meeting the requirements of the Russian Federation National Standard GOST P ISO 14001-2007 were summarized. 

The committee, which had been working at Rostov NPP on May 16-20, came to the conclusion that the ecologic management system (EMC) had been implemented at the enterprise, it functioned and had been constantly improved in accordance with the requirements of GOST P ISO 14001-2007.

The inspection was conducted by an independent agency on certification of management systems DEKUES CCU OJSC. The auditors – Group Leader Ludmila Kozlova and Co-auditor Elena Ilyina – g?t acquainted with Rostov NPP ecologic management system’s documents, attended a number of the nuclear plant’s facilities and interviewed the personnel. During the audit of the ecologic management system the confirmations, that the conduction of the technological processes, operations, generation and supply of electric and heat power and the equipment operation were performed in compliance with the established law and other legislation requirements, were received according to the selection.

According to the auditors’ opinion, all the received information confirmed the aim of the administration and all the staff of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC branch Rostov Nuclear Plant to improve its management and to reduce its impact over environment.

Great amount of the work performed in personnel management, the victory of RNPP in the “Top-100 of Russian Organizations. Ecology and ecologic Management” contest, the development of ASKRO program complex, fulfillment of the events on support of the cooling pond mineralization at the level of maximal permissible concentration (MPC) of a fish pond, the extension of the population classes’ information circle on Rostov NPP’s safe activity as a part of EMS, the organization of public hearings on estimation of environmental influence on the reactor unit capacity increased by 104% of the nominal one with the positive final report receipt and positive public opinion forming were acknowledged to be the benefit aspects of the nuclear plants’ activity in this field. 

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. The nuclear plant has two operating power units of VVER-1000-type reactors with installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Power unit Nos. 3 and 4 are under construction.
