Rostov NPP Successfully Passes Field Special Purpose Inspection of Operational and Industrial Security Status

From May 21 to 25 Rostov NPP, according to the approved by Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC inspection schedule for 2012, passed a special purpose inspection of operational and industrial security status of the nuclear power plant.

The committee headed by Chief Expert of the Department of Security Monitoring and Production of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, Yevgeniy Shvetsov, included experts of seven nuclear power plants of Russia.

As part of the inspection, at RoNPP there was carried out work on assessment of organizational and functional structure of the enterprise management; emergency power systems; organization of operation; maintenance works and equipment reparation; industrial safety issues, etc.

The results of the inspection were confirmed with the act of the working commission.

Rostov NPP is a branch of the “Rosenergoatom Concern” OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Power Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and Power Unit 2 – in December 2010. Power Units 3 and 4 are under construction.
