Rostov NPP Holds Scheduled Meeting of Staff of Project Operations Center for Construction of New Units

On October 4, 2012 on the site of Rostov nuclear power plant there was held a regular meeting of the staff of the project operations centre for construction of Units 3 ands 4.

Deputy General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC – Director of the Works Construction Management branch, Alexander Palamarchuk, took part in the meeting. 

 Director of Volgodonsk branch of NIAEP, Alexander Khazin, reported on the situation at the construction site. The reports of heads of the main contractors were debriefed, including those on the measures taken to get prepared for the construction and assembly works in the winter period.

As for the topical objectives, mounting of the polar crane is underway in the reactor compartment of Unit 3, and concreting of the 85th tier, mark +136.3, takes place on the evaporative cooling tower.

At Unit 4 under construction, concreting of the circular footing of the cooling tower is completed ahead of schedule, and the foundation slabs of the combined pump station and refrigerating system of the basic equipment were concreted in the volume of 1,650 m3.

Also a set of questions on equipment and materials supply was considered. One of the main supplies in September was supply of the third steam generating unit made by JSC Machine Building Plant ZiO-Podolsk to the site of Rostov NPP Unit 3.

 “Rostov nuclear power plant is one of the priority construction projects of the nuclear industry, as well as Baltic NPP, which will certainly be built. Further – the second construction stages of Kursk and Smolensk NPPs. Thus, the nuclear industry builders are provided with work in the years ahead, and the best organizations, acknowledged during the construction of Rostov NPP, will also be engaged in the work,” finally Director of the Works Construction Management, a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, Alexander Palamarchuk, addressed to the builders.


        


Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and Unit 2 – in December 2010. Power Units 3 and 4 are under construction.
