Rostov NPP Generates 100 bln kWh of Electric Power

On April 23, 2012 Rostov NPP has generated 100 billion kWh of electric power since the moment of its startup.

In total for the previous year, Rostov NPP has generated more than 15.803 billion kWh, having smashed the 106.6 % annual target that made up more than 20 % of the total electricity generation in the South of Russia.

Two power units of Rostov NPP generate more than 50 billion kWh per day.
Currently, the whole installed capacitance of the South of Russia generates about 79 billion kWh per year, while in follow-up of 2011 the consumption in the South of the country has made more than 85 billion kWh of electricity.

During 2011, the nuclear power plant transferred about 2 billion rubles to the budgets of all levels.

The Federal Tariff Service approved the plan for Rostov NPP of electricity generation in 2012 in the amount of 14.724 billion kWh of electric power.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1000 MW. The Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and the Unit 2 Р in December 2010. The Power Units 3 and 4 are nowadays under construction and their startup is scheduled for 2014 and 2017, respectively.
