Rostov NPP summed up the competition ТThe Best in the ProfessionУ. The participated were the reactor and turbine equipment maintenance technicians of the centralized repair shop.



Members of the committee - the management of CRS, specialists of the occupational safety and health department and personnel training subdivision of the plant - chaired by Deputy Chief Engineer for maintenance and repair, Ivan Malakhov, assessed the contestants in two stages.

In the theoretical part the contestants had to answer the questions related to their professional activities, occupational safety, regulations of fire safety and the basic rules to provide operation of nuclear power plants.  

The purpose of the practical part of the task was the assessment of the level of skills in the performance of work included in the scope of professional duties of the reactor and turbine equipment maintenance technicians of NPP. During performing the practical tasks the taken into account were not only time and quality of the works performed, but also following the regulations of safety precautions, production culture and maintaining of the workplace.

According to the total score, the first prize was awarded to Maintenance Technician of metal-cutting equipment of the central maintenance facilities unit of CRS, Andrey Ilyinykh. In the theoretical part he was excelled by the young specialist of the integral unit for reactor maintenance and reparation, Sergey Morozov. But the experience still wins: in the practical tasks the youth lost 11 points. The third place went to Repairman of pipelines, fittings and reactor compartment vessels, Viktor Chikalov.

Andrey Ilyinykh arrived to Rostov NPP in 1989 after graduating from university. During the plantХs conservation he was forced out of production for some time. But he returned to his native enterprise and he is down on to his business. Andrey believes in no trifles at work, pays great attention to improving his skills. A person, who remarkably influenced his development as highly professional specialist, was Senior Master of the unit, Vasily Lopatko. Andrey participated in the professional contests at the sectoral level. Speaking on the significance of the professional skills contests, Andrey Ilyinykh says: ТIt is an impetus to improve skills and self-improvement. The fact that a lot of young people participate in it makes me glad. And the contest has proved that the young people we have are talented, persevering and competent.У

The contest among professional workers is carried out annually at all nuclear power plants of Russia, and is the elimination round of the general contest of Rosenergoatom Concern.

In accordance with the Regulations on conducting contests ТThe Best in the ProfessionУ, the participants of the contest at Rostov NPP, a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern, who took the second and third places, will be awarded with cash prizes. They also have a priority right to get a higher skill category without taking examination.

Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and Unit 2 Р in December 2010. Power Units 3 and 4 are nowadays under construction.
