The JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" - the operating organization (operator) of Russian nuclear power plants - received the decision of the Rostekhnadzor (RTN) on termination from October 12, 2015 (due to the lack of industrial necessity) of the licenses for operation of the power units ?1 and ?2 of the Novovoronezh NPP and for using nuclear materials and / or radioactive substances in research and development activities in the protective ("hot") camera of the power unit ?1.

These decisions of the RTN were adopted as a result of consideration of applications of the operating organization on the termination of the licensed activity.

Recall, that in October 2013 the Concern obtained licenses, which have been giving the right for decommissioning of nuclear installations - power units ?1 and ?2 of the NV NPP. However, work on stopping the units operating in full could not be performed due to the presence of nuclear material in the protective ("hot") camera.

Since 2013, a number of necessary works has been held at the power units ??1, 2 of the Novovoronezh NPP, including the implementation of the complete removal of residues of nuclear materials, design and provision of relevant documents to the Rostekhnadzor, carrying out all the necessary checks, etc. Currently, nuclear materials at the power ?1 and ?2 of the NVNPP are absent.

Since October this year, the licenses for the operation of nuclear installations generating units ?1 and ?2 of the Novovoronezh NPP have been stopped. Works on the units have been performed in accordance with the licenses for decommissioning.

The Joint Stock Company "Concern Rosenergoatom" includes all 10 nuclear power plants in Russia, which have status of the Concern branches as well as companies that provide activity of the generating company. In total there are 10 Russian nuclear power plants in commercial operation with 34 power nits: 18 units with VVER reactors (including 12 VVER-1000 and VVER-6 440 of different modifications); 15 power units with RBMK reactors (11 units with RBMK-1000, 4 power units with reactors EGP-6); 1 power unit with fast neutron sodium-cooled reactor BN-600.

The Concern "Rosenergoatom" is producing about 17% of the total power generation in Russia at the moment.
