Rosenergoatom General Director met WANO Chairman

Sergey Obozov, Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC General Director, met Laurent Stricker, the World Association of Organizations Operating Nuclear Plants Chairman.

The meeting of the Concern and WANO representatives was held on March 2, in Moscow, as a part of preparation work for WANO General Assembly-2013.

At the meeting, the parties approved the plan of preparation for the General Assembly, Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC is to act as the organizer.

Laurent Stricker noted that WANO was founded exactly in Moscow in 1989. ТIt will be useful to demonstrate the success the nuclear industry reached upon the whole, and, in particular, within the framework of WANO program in course of these yearsУ, - he underlined.

ТIt is necessary to show the important role of Moscow Centre at the General Assembly-2013 in MoscowУ, - Arvo Vuorenmaa, selected new Chairman of WANO Moscow Centre Governing Board, added.

In his turn, Sergey Obozov told the guests about WANO Corporate Peer Review, as a part of which visits to Kalinin and Smolensk nuclear plants were organized last year.

ТWe consider the recommendations brought in, and are thoroughly preparing for the next stage coming in April of the current yearУ, - Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC General Director underlined.

Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC includes all the 10 Russian nuclear plants possessing the status of its branches. At present, 10 Russian nuclear plants operate 32 power units of the installed capacity of 24,242 MW, among them there are 16 reactors with water under the pressure Р 10 VVER-1000, 6 Р VVER-440, 15 channel boiling reactors Р 11 RBMK-1000 and 4 EGP-6, 1 fast neutron reactor.

The World Association of Organizations operating Nuclear Power Plants (WANO) unites all the world NPP operators and contributes to the operation experience exchange. In the limits of WANO, all the organizations operating NPPs are able to communicate and exchange information in the unique atmosphere of collaboration and openness.
