Rosenergoatom Carries out Public Consultations on Annual Report 2011

On May 16 Rosenergoatom Concern for the fourth time held public consultations on Annual Report.

As the priority in the Annual Report 2011 is a topic of safety in various aspects of consideration, the consultations participants reviewed the Concern from the point of view of a guarantor: of energy preparedness of the country, safe and reliable operation of nuclear power plants, economic stability and social security in the regions of nuclear power plantsХ location.

The main objectives of the public consultations were the submission and open discussion of the Annual Report 2011 draft, definition of public plans and commitments of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC to representatives of the stakeholders.

The event was attended by representatives of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Rosatom Nuclear Energy State Corporation, Moscow Regional Centre of WANO, Kurchatov Institute and Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBRAE RAN), JSC Atomenergoproyekt and JSC Atomenergomash, social and environmental organizations, management of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, its branches, affiliates and associated companies.

The public consultations were preceded by dialogues with the stakeholders on the Annual Report concept discussion, safety ensuring of nuclear power plants of Russia, and construction of new units of NPPs.

The public consultations were held in the form of an open debate. First Deputy General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC Vladimir Asmolov addressed the participants with the report on ТThe Main Outcome of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC for the Year 2011. Ensuring the Safety and Efficiency Upgrading of the Nuclear Power Generation Industry of RussiaУ, and Deputy Director of the Public Relations and Information Office Svetlana Churilova told on results of work in 2011 on information dealing with the locals and public.

Participants of the consultations suggested expanding the sections on innovative projects, international activities, giving more extensive information on taxes paid by Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC to the Federal, regional and local budgets.

As the Chairman of the Interregional Public Environmental Movement OKA Alan Khasiyev noted, Rosenergoatom Concern carried out much works with public on achieving the public consensus in respect of facilities under construction and operation of the nuclear power generation industry. It was even more noticeable due to the fact that the Concern, as well as other nuclear power generation industry facilities, had been a closed structure. ТThe current informed choice of nuclear engineers is that the development of the nuclear power generation industry is possible only in terms of transparency. This makes it possible to carry out a constructive dialogue with nuclear engineers,У noted Alan Khasiyev.

The integrated Annual Report of Rosenergoatom Concern for 2011 is being prepared in accordance with the Guidelines GRI (version G.3.1) Р level B+, the Institute of Social and Ethical Accountability AA1000 Standard of interaction with stakeholders, and Model Standard of public year-end reporting of strategic organizations of Rosatom Nuclear Energy State Corporation.
