Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP Carries out ТThe Lesson of Nuclear KnowledgeУ Dedicated to 20th Anniversary of Rosenergoatom Concern
On May 29, 2012 the Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP carried out ТThe Lesson of Nuclear KnowledgeУ dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The pupils of the 4th grade of high school ТChanceУ participated in the unusual lesson.
The lesson began with an introduction to the history of Rosenergoatom Concern foundation, as well as of all the Russian NPPs. Pupils knew about the Concern as of an organization uniting all nuclear power plants of Russia, geographical location of NPPs and number of power units operating.
For further information, the narrator of the lesson Р the Public Information Centre expert, Yelena Shedko Р fixed on the history of construction and commissioning of Rostov nuclear power plant. In the actable and easy for the childrenХs intussusception format, she told about the most complex principles of work of the nuclear power plant, safety barriers, and environmentally friendly production of nuclear electricity.
The participants of the lesson guessed the lesson theme riddles, listened to ТThe Tale of the Kingdom of Nuclear Power PlantУ, generated electricity using the exercise bike, specially arranged as a small power plant.
At the end of the lesson, the guests of the Information Centre presented their gift to the nuclear power plant staff Р a mini-performance telling about important professions at a nuclear power plant. Also the children themselves were not left without gifts: each of them received an informative book ТThe Nuclear AlphabetУ to the memory about the lesson to reinforce the educational material.
Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The enterprise is situated on the bank of Tsimlyansk Reservoir at 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. NPP operates two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with the capacity of 1,000 MW. Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001 and Unit 2 Р in December 2010. Power Units 3 and 4 are nowadays under construction.
