Press-tour and public inspection have been completed at Bilibino NPP

A press-tour and public inspection, which involved representatives of public organizations and mass media, were held at Bilibino NPP (Bilibino city, CAD).

In particular, representatives of the Deputy Council of Bilibino Municipal District Municipal Formation, Bilibino Municipal District municipal motor transport enterprise, Administration of Municipal District - Bilibino Urban Settlement of Bilibino Municipal Formation, Military Commissariant of Bilibino Municipal District, Bilibino Municipal District Administration of Bilibino Municipal District, Chukotka District Hospital State health care institution Р affiliate of Bilibino regional hospital, ТKrayniy Sever Publishing House Р BilibinoУ Р branch of CAD State enterprise, Bilibino affiliated branch of Chukotka District public association called Association of Native Minorities of North, Siberia and Far East of the Russian Federation and B-TV Bilibino Television and Radio Studio MI visited BNPP.

The guests had an excursion, during which they visited the unit and central control room, central (reactor) hall and turbine island. Deputy Chief HR Engineer Р Head of Educational and Training Centre Grigory Khakhulin told the guests about the nuclear power plant operation, power unit main equipment, EGP-6 reactor structure and zone planning of the territory around BNPP (sanitary and protection area and control area).

A Тround tableУ discussion summarized the results of the public inspection and press-tour. It engaged the group of public inspection, journalists of B-TV television and radio studio, Chief Engineer of Bilibino NPP Konstantin Ozerov, Deputy HR Director Evgeny Byakov and other heads of Bilibino NPP. The group of public organizations got an opportunity to ask vital questions about safe operation of Russian nuclear power plants and Bilibino NPP.

During the inspection the representatives of public organizations and mass media got answers to the questions they had been interested in and became convinced in reliable and safe operation of Bilibino NPP.


Bilibino NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located next to Bilibino city, in the Chukotka Autonomous District. Bilibino NPP operates four EGP-6 uranium-graphite pressurized tube reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 12MW (el.). The first power unit was commissioned in 1973, the second Р in 1974, the third Р in 1975, and the fourth one Р in 1976. The plant produces about 75% of energy generated in Chaun-Bilibino isolated electricity system (upon that the system takes about 40% of energy consumed in the Chukotka Autonomous District).
