On October 11, 2013 the Kolskaya nuclear power plant was visited by the international insurance inspection of power units.

Inspectors are representatives of nuclear insurance pools of Great Britain and Russia *, and also specialists of central office of ЗRosenergoatomИ Concern carried out the next assessment of an insurance risk of station.

The British pool was represented by Michael Pich, the team of the Russian insurers was headed by the deputy technical director of National association of insurers of the nuclear industry Sergey Babenko.

For the first time the international insurance inspection of power units of the Russian nuclear power plants was carried out in December, 2009 at the Balakovo nuclear station. Then this procedure was executed on all nuclear power plants of JSC ЗRosenergoatomИ Concern that allowed to get a financial support of the international nuclear insurance pools which assumed responsibility for nuclear risks.

During the present inspection members of the expert team checked accomplishment of the recommendations issued by results of 2010 check, and also obtained new data on operational characteristics of our station.

The specialists of the British and Russian insurance pools estimated a condition of nuclear safety, carried out the analysis of operation and risks procedures of responsibility before the third party. Also experts studied the organization of fire-proof protection of the Kolskaya nuclear power plant, carried out bypasses of production rooms and survey of the entity equipment.
 
  * the Russian nuclear insurance pool unites 20 insurance companies which assume compensation of possible damage from nuclear accidents. Reservoir of the pool on civil responsibility insurance for nuclear damage makes 3 billion rubles.

  Pools from 28 countries of the world, formed the International pooling system, actively cooperate with each other, taking part in the international inspections on nuclear objects and exchanging risks through reinsurance system.

Risks of JSC ЗRosenergoatomИ Concern are reassured in pools of Great Britain, France, Spain, China, Ukraine, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Holland and Belgium.

The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in 200 km to the South from Murmansk on the shore of the Lake Imandra. It develops about 60% of the electric power of Murmansk region. There are 4 power units in operation with reactors of type VVER 440 MW each. The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is the supplier of the electric power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
