The event was attended by representatives of the Department of Reproduction and Acclimatization of Aquatic Biological Resources of Azov-Black Sea Territory Directorate of the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency (Rosrybolovstvo); Upper Don Department of the State Supervision and Protection of Aquatic Biological Resources; Voronezh Office for Fishery and Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources of FGBU Azdonrybvod; employees of departments of nuclear power plants, journalists of the city and regional mass media; employees of the Public Information Centre.
ТFor the first time this year the contracting terms have been exposed at the e-platform,У told the Chief of the Environment Protection Department of the plant Olga Romanova. ТIn the tender for stocking, there have been involved three companies. The winner was Novovoronezh Fish Nursery. TodayХs event is important for the environment, because it helps to preserve the fish fauna, and restores fish stocks. Every spring the nuclear power plant releases a ton of juvenile fish into Don, in addition, stocking of the cooling pond is important for the biologic pond cleaning up.У
From the environmental point of view, stocking is the most efficient method of biological recreation. As a result, weediness is reduced; amount of phytoplankton is reduced, and the quality of water is improved. Annually, carrying out such a procedure allows maintaining ecological state of water on the high level. This is confirmed by assay number conducted during the year by the specialists of the Environment Protection Department of the plant. According to experts-ichthyologists, during the first year silver carp, carp and grass carp increase in weight by 14 times, the second year Р by 7 times.
Novovoronezh NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated on the bank of the Don river at 42 km south of Voronezh. It is the first NPP in Russia, which operates reactors of VVER-type (Vessel type Pressurized Water Reactor with light water under pressure).
Each of the five plant reactors are prime Р a prototype of serial power reactors: No.1 power unit operates on VVER-210-type reactor, No.2 power unit Р VVER-365, No.3,4 power units Р VVER-440, No.5 power unit Р VVER-1000.
At present, there are operated three power units (the Units 1 and 2 were stopped in 1984 and 1990 respectively).

Novovoronezh NPP: Nuclear Scientists Release 7, 5 Tons of Fingerling into Regional Waters
Novovoronezh nuclear power plant has carried out an environmental action Р stocking of Don and the Unit 5 cooling pond with fish. On May 11, 2012 almost 7, 5 tons of grass carp and silver carp found a new habitat.
Stocking was carried out in the framework of the environmental actions program of Novovoronezh NPP.
