On May 18-19, 2011, State Duma of the Russian Federation Expert Council on Nuclear Power Use, Former Director of Russian Gosatomnadzor Scientific and Technical Centre on Nuclear and Radiation Safety (STC NRS) Boris Gordon arrived at Novovoronezh NPP with a working visit.

Being Chief Scientific Officer of Scientific and Technical Center and Radiation Safety Department, by order of Head of Rostekhnadzor Nikolay Kutyin, Boris Gordon was to get acquainted with the work of the inspection departments on nuclear and radiation safety at different Russian nuclear plants and compare their work with each other.

A Тround tableУ, in the work of which Deputy Chief Engineers and Department Heads were participating, was held at the initiative of Plant Director Vladimir Povarov. In the process of an interested opinion exchange the questions, connected with the estimation of safety while operating and with the recommendations on perfection of RostekhnadzorХs regulating activity, were considered.

In the conclusion Boris Gordon underlined: ТA report that will be finished after my visits to other nuclear plants will be the result of my business trips. I have prepared a number of tables, based on foreign approaches that we try to adapt to our activity. Finally, I expect this work to lead to the improvement of safety regulation efficiencyУ.
