Leningrad NPP: 95% of pipelines are assembled at the turbine house of power unit No 1 under construction

95% of pipelines connecting the main and auxiliary equipment of machine room technical systems are assembled at the turbine house of Leningrad NPPХs VVER-1200 power unit No 1.

ТPipelines band together all the devices and aggregates of the turbine house. Each has its own purpose, parameters and indicators. These are second circulation circuit pipelines, feeder, condensate, vent pipelines, main steam and extraction steam pipelines, etc. Their total length is a few kilometers. At the moment, most (2,300 tons) of pipes are assembled. The works are carried out under schedule. We plan to finish the assemblage of the remaining 100 tons by mid-March of the current yearУ, the Head of the Turbine Department of Leningrad NPP under construction Anatoliy Gnevashev said.

Currently, there are large-scale commissioning works going at the turbine house of VVER-1200 power unit No 1: specialists are conducting post-assembly cleaning, vibratory examination, individual testing, systems and equipment hydraulic testing. The next step is to start their cold and hot trials.

ТPre-commissioning works are one of the final stages of nuclear power plant construction. They must confirm that all the systems are qualitatively assembled and the power unit operates as it suppose to according to the project Р effectively, reliably and safely. All the results of the trials and testing of the turbine house equipment and systems at power unit No 1 under construction prove it to be trueУ, Anatoliy Viktorovich summed.

The Leningrad NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based in the city of Sosnovy Bor, 40 km to the west from Saint Petersburg at the Gulf of Finland shore. The Leningrad NPP is the first Russian nuclear power plant having RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium-graphite channel-type thermal neutron reactors). The NPP exploits 4 power blocks with the electric capacity of 1000 megawatt each. Also, pursuant to the NPP-2006 project, 1,2 VVER-1200 power blocks included into The State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM long-term plan are being constructed. Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC is the owner and developer of the project. Holding TITAN-2 is the primary contractor. ATOMPROEKT is the general designer.
