Leningrad NPP Proves Compliance of Its Environmental Management System with National Standard Requirements
Leningrad NPP has once again confirmed compliance of its environmental management system with the national standard GOST R ISO 14001-2007 requirements Р a national version of the international ISO 14001-2004 standard.
Such a conclusion was made by the members of the expert team of the independent certification body for management systems certification ТDEKUESУ M.S. Certification Ltd. according to the results of the second surveillance audit of EMS, which had been held at Leningrad NPP for a week.
During the work from April 9 to 13 of the current year, the auditors analyzed the EMS documentation submitted by 25 audited departments of the plant, interviewed the staff of the inspected departments, listened to heads of departments and persons in charge of the environmental management system at workshops and departments about the work relevant to that field, as well as visited a range of Leningrad NPP objects.
According to the results of sampling, the auditors noted that Leningrad NPP followed legislative requirements on the environment protection; that its environmental management system was implemented in all departments; the audited departmentsХ staff had demonstrated good knowledge of environmental aspects and their management in order to prevent violations of the established criteria and standards.
Under the audit, the independent experts have got quite a lot of grounds for the confirmation that Leningrad NPP gave the most proper attention to the work in the environment protection, as it was one of its priority tasks, and the plantХs front office was aimed at further improvement of the environmental management and implementing measures on ensuring the environment safety.
In conclusion, the members of the surveillance audit noted that the audit team with sufficient certainty confirmed the implementation and functioning, as well as constant improvement of the environmental management system of Leningrad NPP, its compliance with requirements of the national Russian Federation standard GOST R ISO 14001-2007 and requirements of the Mandatory Certification System for Environmental Requirements, that afforded ground to the recommendation to give further effect of the conformity certificate.
Based on the materials of the surveillance audit, the working audit team (manager L.B. Kozlova) has afforded to the inspected party (Leningrad NPP) a Certificate of EMS audit and assessment, which reflected all the stages and aspects of audit, mentioned the additional strong points identified at Leningrad NPP, as well as some recommendations for the further improvement of its EMS.
