Leningrad NPP has finished the scheduled inspection on occupational health and safety in equipment maintenance and reparations organization under the chairmanship of the Chief of the Control and Inspection Department of the OHS and Staff Protection Office of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC Nikolay Gusarov.

The first documentation to be inspected by the Concern committee was on occupational health and safety in terms of ensuring safe works at the nuclear power plant during maintenance works of, in particular, mechanocaloric equipment, in electrical devices, with tools and accessories, at the opening of equipment, at a height and with the use of lifting mechanisms. Workplaces of the main departments of the plant made an essential part of the inspection.

The inspection also referred to interaction of LNPP with contractors in the field of occupational health and safety, and following by contractors the established safety standards and regulations.

Currently, Leningrad NPP has the ТModel Regulations on Inspection of Occupational Health and Safety at the Maintenance PlatformsУ, due to which the workplaces of contractors who repair power units in the maintenance periods are checked daily.

After the walk-round checks and inspection of workplaces of the plantХs departments and the documentation analysis on occupational health and safety, the committee noted that Leningrad NPP constantly conducted works on improvement of conditions and occupational safety, introduced new approaches on increasing of the personal responsibility of employees in following the occupational safety regulations during maintenances, which allowed to comply the work of contractors with the high requirements in the field of occupational safety at ТatomicУ enterprises.

Leningrad NPP has worked out the ТPlantХs Plan of Measures on Improving the Conditions and Occupational Health and Safety for 2012У. The Occupational Health and Safety Department (hereinafter as OHSD) monitors the implementation of the ТPlantХs Plan of Measures on Improving the Conditions and Occupational Health and SafetyУ by the departments.

The departments of Leningrad NPP monthly carry out Days of Occupational Health and Safety according to the ТRegulations on Occupational Health and Safety Management SystemУ. In 2012 there were carried out 4 all-plant Days of OHS on the results of 13 departments inspections.

In 2012 the OHSD staff conducted 27 special-purpose inspections on occupational safety at the plantХs branches.
In 2012 there were not issued improvement notices on OHS at Leningrad NPP from the government supervisory bodies.
