Kursk NPP: Kurchatov Hosts Offsite Meeting of Admissions Office for Enrollees
On June 27, 2012 in the city of Kurchatov nuclear scientists on the base of the secondary general education school No.4 the admissions office worked to collect the documents for entrance to Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering Р a branch of INPE of NRNU MEPhI.
The offsite meeting of the admissions committee in Kurchatov was held for the first time. More than 40 enrollees, including todayХs leavers of Kurchatov schools, submitted their applications with relevant documents for on-site and extramural training at the university.
In general, Kurchatov citizens expressed a desire to obtain such careers as design and operation of nuclear power plants, nuclear reactors and power plants, and engineering.
ТThe desire of Kurchatov citizens to train at the department of physics and energy on specialties related to work at NPPs is down not only to the high rating of the nuclear power industry in the region, but also to the improved infrastructure of the institute,У said Technical Secretary of the admissions committee of INPE of NRNU MEPhI, Irina Simakova. ТThe institute has the modern sports complex ТOlympУ with a swimming pool and fitness club, and each student has an opportunity to live in the student hostel. We hope that in the future the most capable students will join the ranks of specialistsРnuclear engineers, and it means that the nuclear power has a future.У
The importance of the event was noted by Deputy Director for Staff Management of Kursk NPP, Alexander Apalkov: ТNuclear power plants constantly pass through the process of upgrading of equipment and automation of production processes requiring high quality staff. The main purpose of the work with local school leavers, including also such work as organization of offsite meetings of admissions offices in the cities of nuclear engineers, is attraction and training as much professionals as possible in the field of nuclear and atomic technologies.У
Rating lists of applicants will be announced after June 25 on the website of Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering (www.iate.obninsk.ru), where anyone can learn the passing grade for entrance to the budget department.
At the present time, Kursk NPP operates the power units No.2, 3 and 4. The units work at the capacity rated by the dispatch schedule. The power unit No.1 has been being under the scheduled midlife maintenance.
