Kursk NPP is ready for mid-life repair of power unit ? 4

On May 25-26, 2011 commission of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC checked the readiness of the Kursk NPP for scheduled preventive mid-life repair of power unit ? 4.


Repair is planned for 108 days, since June 15 of the current year. Its program includes usual procedural works provided by the annual schedule, and works on prolongation of the operational resource of the power unit.


Having studied the state of affairs, the commission has come to conclusion, that Kursk NPP is ready for mid-life repair of power unit ? 4.


As was said by Deputy Chief Engineer for repair of the Kursk NPP Nikolay Balitsky, before the beginning of the NPP repair the commission remarks aimed at achievement of the best results during the repair will be realized.

At present Kursk NPP operates power units Nos. 1,3 and 4. Their capacity corresponds to the dispatch schedule. Power unit No.2 has been under scheduled maintenance repair since April 22, 2011.


The radiation background at Kursk NPP and in the area of its location corresponds to the normal operation of power units does not exceed the natural background values.
