Kursk NPP was awarded an international certificate ISO 14001:2004 + Cor 1: 2009, which has become the outcome of the conducted in July, 2012 at Kursk NPP certification audit of the environmental management system (EMS) for the compliance with the requirements of the national state standard of the Russian Federation (GOST), Compulsory Certification System regulations on the environmental requirements and acting Russian Environmental Legislation.

This certificate has confirmed the implementation, operation and continuous improvement of the environmental management system of Kursk NPP in accordance with the requirements of the international and Russian standards. The document is issued in three languages Р Russian, English and German.  

At the present time, Kursk NPP operates the power units No.1, 2 and 3. The units work at the capacity rated by the dispatch schedule. Unit 4  is under the scheduled overhaul. 

The radiation background in the area of Kursk NPP and the adjacent territory corresponds to the level of power unitsХ normal operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values.
