Kola NPP: balance of the work in April 2011

In April 2011, Kola NPP generated 798,8 million kWh of electric power. Since the beginning of the year it has generated 4047,4 million kWh, which is 143million kWh more than in the same period in 2010.


As of May 4, power units ? 1, 2 and 4 are operated by the NPP, according to the dispatching schedule the NPP capacity amounts to 1103 megawatt. Power unit ? 3 has been under planned repair and upgrade since March 11, 2011.


The radiation situation around the Kola NPP and within 30-kilometre area of supervision does not differ from the natural background. The level of radiation background around the Kola NPP is within the limits of 0.08 Р 0.10 mkzv/hour (micrizievert per hour).

The NPP has generated more than 342,6 billion kWh of electric power since it was commissioned.

Kola NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located 200 km to the south of Murmansk on the bank of Lake Imandra. Power unit No.1 of Kola NPP was commissioned in 1973. Currently, the plant operates 4 power units with VVER-type reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 440 mW. Kola NPP supplies power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
