Kola NPP Restarts Power Unit 3

On April 19, 2012 at 03.32 am Kola NPP restarted the unit number 3 after the scheduled maintenance on the thermal and mechanical equipment.

At present, the plant operates the units 2, 3, and 4 at the capacity specified by the dispatch schedule. Since March 6, 2012 the unit 1 has been being under the scheduled outage in accordance with the 2012-maintenance campaign schedule.

The radiation background at Kola nuclear power plant and the adjacent territory corresponds to the level of power unitsХ normal operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values.

Kola NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located 200 km to the south of Murmansk on the bank of Lake Imandra. It produces about 60% of electricity of Murmansk region. Currently, the plant operates 4 power units with VVER-type reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 440 MW. Kola NPP supplies power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
