Kaliningrad journalists have visited the Information Centre on nuclear power within the framework of the meeting of ТClean EnergyУ press-club meeting

Within the framework of the meeting of ТClean EnergyУ press-club, Kaliningrad journalists visited the Information Centre on nuclear power of Kaliningrad city, near which the Baltic NPP is supposed to be constructed.

Having thanked the present people for the informational tracking of the nuclear plant in the district construction, the Baltic NPP OJSC Director Jury Shalimov said: ТWe have invited you here for you to learn more about the Information Centre activity and having watched the interactive cognitive programs about the existing plants to cover the problems of the nuclear power industry in your mass media in a more competent wayУ.

Director of the Information Centre on Nuclear Power Irina Starunova in her turn introduced to the journalists the opportunities it provided to the visitors Р show of multimedia interactive cognitive programs, unique video materials, organization of teleconference bridges and public lectures on geography, astronomy and other branches of science.

After that Jury Shalimov answered the journalistsХ questions about the economical aspects of the future NPP for Kaliningrad region and of how the relations are formed with the neighbouring states, anxious about the construction of a nuclear plant in their district, how the questions of electric power export are solved and if local enterprises are involved into the construction.

ТOn the example of our Zelenodolsk district, which cooperates with the Information Centre on nuclear power especially intensively, I can confirm how its activity is important especially for village schoolchildren and teachersУ, Chief Editor of ТVolnaУ newspaper Svetlana Ivolgina noted. ТThis is absolutely another level of knowledge, which helps the children decide on their future profession more consciously and to the teacher it helps in improving their qualification. And after the meeting we, journalists, will better grasp the problems of the nuclear power branch and this will help us prepare the articles on the topics our readers are interested in more openly and objectivelyУ. On behalf of all the press-club members she wished the Information Centre new success.

The Information Centre on nuclear power activity is held on non-commercial basis. Within the previous year, more than 30,000 of the inhabitants have attended it: pupils, students, higher educational establishments and collegesХ teachers, doctors. According to the results of 2010, the Information Centre on nuclear power in Kaliningrad city was acknowledged to be the best one among the similar centres in Russia, existing in the cities of the nuclear power branch enterprises location.
