Kalinin NPP: Scheduled Outage of Unit 2

On July 14, 2012 Power Unit 2 of Kalinin nuclear power plant will be in outage due to the scheduled maintenance.

Its terms are approved by the operating organization Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC and coordinated with IDGC of the Center.
The works on checkout and testing of safety relief valves of I and II circuits and testing of Unit 2 sealed enclosure system are scheduled to be carried out within six days, after which the power unit will be included to the grid.

Currently, Kalinin NPP operates four power units, their total capacity amounts to 4,037 MW. The dynamic tests on 100% power level are carried out at Power Unit 4 within the ТPilot OperationУ stage.

The radiation background at the nuclear plant and the adjacent territory corresponds to the level of power unitsХ normal operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The Plant is situated on the north of the Tver Region in Udomelsk district. Kalinin NPP includes four power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) each one having the installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Implementation of the stage ТPilot OperationУ continues its realization on the 4th power unit, which start-up took place in November 2011.
