Kalinin NPP: 100 days are left before power unit No. 4 physical start-up

On June 8, the regular headquarters on construction of power unit No. 4 launched the countdown of the time left before the beginning of the stage of physical start-up. 100 days are left before the fuel loading into the reactor. This date was specially underlined by NIAEP OJSC Director Valery Limarenko when the meeting began. ТIt is very important to gather ourselves up, to define the questions more exactly and analyze the problems in order to start performance of the set targets with new eagerness and, of course, initiate the important stage -  power unit No. 4 physical start-upУ, he said.

Hydraulic tests and circulation wash (GIiTP) is one of the most important operations preceding the unit physical start-up and at present multiple contracting organizations are getting ready for it. Within the framework of the stage main circulation pumps will be connected to the grid in succession, main circulation line pipe and the system of normal operation will be washed.

After the equipment and line pipes warming, the stage of hydraulic tests is to begin. ТThe operation starts on June 24, in strict accordance with the schedule. All the documents for the system and equipment involved in the hydraulic tests must have been registered by the timeУ, Valery Limarenko explained. According to him, on July 1-15 the first equipment inspection would be held, and then there would be held the stage of hot operational testing, in the course of which all the characteristics of the equipment operation are detected, which would prove the reactorХs operation safety and its compliance with the project requirements.
