Kalinin NPP Holds Conference toward World Occupational Safety and Health Day

In the eighth time ahead of the World Occupational Safety and Health Day, Kalinin NPP has held a conference, devoted to the problems of occupational safety and health in the Tver region and at Kalinin NPP.

On April 24 the Public Information Centre of Kalinin NPP gathered representatives of the State Labour Inspectorate in the Tver region, Central Administration for Occupational Safety, Health and Employment of the Tver region, as well as managers of enterprises and organizations of Udomlya city, the Tver and Moscow regions.

Opening the meeting, the Director of Kalinin NPP Mikhail Kanyshev told: ТWe have met to assess our achievements for the past year, discuss those problems, which we still have on ways to improve occupational safety and health, and take the additional steps to make the main task of the employer Р to preserve the life and health of employees Р be carried out efficiently, and the amount of accidents be reduced annually.У

The Head of the Central Administration for Occupational Safety, Health and Employment of the Tver region Elena Ignatova thanked Kalinin NPP management for the invitation to the conference, and the possibility to attract once again the attention of public to the issues in the field of occupational safety and health.

The OSH management system at Kalinin NPP fully complies with the requirements of labour legislation, and is aimed at preventing accident rates and professional diseases. 

    This fact was confirmed by the words of the Director of Udomel branch of the JSC NIAEP Igor Kruuz: ТDuring the construction of Kalinin NPP 4, we managed to create such a joint system of OSH management, which can be applied at construction of other nuclear power plants.У

    In the event, those plant workers, which made significant progress in ensuring safe working conditions in the past year, were awarded with diplomas of the Kalinin NPP Director.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The Plant is situated on the north of the Tver Region in Udomelsk district. Kalinin NPP includes four power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) each one having a capacity of 1,000 MW. Implementation of a multistage program of the energy start-up continues its realization on the 4th power unit, which start-up took place on November 2011.
