Kalinin NPP Completes 100% Capacity Level Tests at Unit 4

On August 6, 2012 Kalinin NPP held a regular meeting of a startup managing team led by Kalinin NPP Director, Mikhail Kanyshev.

The participants discussed a successful implementation a complex of works and tests carried out at a 100% capacity level prior to putting a unit into commercial operation.

After of all the scheduled by the ТPilot Operation Program of Kalinin NPP Unit 4У tests carried out at various power levels and in different operational modes, including a study of the unitХs operation in the reset mode of electric power of a generator to the level of in-house needs, held on August 3-4 of the current year, there was confirmed a compliance of Unit 4 actual parameters, equipment characteristics and systems to the design values.

A day before, on August 5, there was started a final substage ТPilot OperationУ Р a complex testing of the power unit, during which the unit will be working within 15 days at the nominal capacitance level, whereafter it will be presented to the commission for the acceptance into service.

The procedure includes checking of all the reporting documentation and facility in general for the compliance with the project requirements. The check will be carried out in the third decade of August by the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Oversight.

In the case of positive findings given by Rostekhnadzor on the conformance of the facility to the project, as well as to the requirements of standards and regulations, and in accordance with the Town-Planning Code of RF, Unit 4 will be accepted into commercial operation.

It is scheduled to be carried out in September of the current year.
