Kalinin 4 Starts Reaching 90 % Capacity Level

From June 15 Kalinin 4 will start reaching 90% capacity level of the rated capacity.

It became possible to get down to the substep after the successful carrying out of a program of static and dynamic tests at 75% capacity level of the rated capacity. The purpose of testing was a check of the compliance of actual parameters and characteristics of the equipment and systems of the unit with the requirements of specifications of the producing plants and design. The carried out programs included: adjusting of water and chemical condition of the 1st and 2nd circuits, biological protection efficiency, examination of systems of automatic control of the equipment and technological systems, check of the mode of behavior of the pile assembly at different operating modes of the unit, etc.

The obtained results according to Chief Engineer of Kalinin NPP, Igor Bogomolov, Тfully comply with the acceptance criterion of the program testsУ. The team on startup management headed by Director of Kalinin NPP, Mikhail Kanyshev, has confirmed the realization of the test program in the full volume and made a decision of reaching by Unit 4 the capacity level of 90%.

The gradual reaching the rated capacity of Unit 4 is carried out as part of pilot operation phase.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The Plant is situated on the north of the Tver Region in Udomelsk district. Kalinin NPP includes four power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) each one having the installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Implementation of the stage ТPilot OperationУ continues its realization on the 4th power unit, which start-up took place in November 2011.
