Joint training of commissions for emergency situations at nuclear power plants and of municipality took place at the Kolskaya NPP

A joint training of Emergency Situation Commissions of the Kolskaya NPP and the municipality took place on July 15, 2015 at Kolskaya NPP and in satellite town Polar Zory.

"Such trainings allows us to maintain necessary skills as well as to work out the system of emergency management at the nuclear power plant in practice", - said the Deputy director for emergency preparedness of the Kolskaya NPP Alexander Bodnarchuk.

General staff for emergencies met in a secure room for controlling emergency actions at the Kolskaya nuclear power plant located in the city. The commission worked out mechanisms of interaction between the plant management and urban structures in case of an emergency, conventionally implemented plans to protect nuclear power plant staff and residents from exposure (conditionally) of hazards, evacuation committee of the municipality worked out its procedure, issues of interaction and organization of work with the media and public awareness were also trained.

Detailed reports about technical equipment and materials intended for the protection of workers available at the Kolskaya NPP were provided during the training.

The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in 200 km to the South from Murmansk on the shore of the Lake Imandra. It develops about 60% of the electric power in Murmansk region. There are 4 power units in operation with VVER reactors of 440 MW capacity each. The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is the supplier of the electric power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
