International experts checked the starting unit

Prestart peer review of the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO-MC) began at the third power unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant. This is a routine procedure that takes place in accordance with the "Plan of the interaction of the Rostov NPP and WANO-MC."

Within two weeks, a team of international and Russian experts WANO-MC will check the documentation, jobs, talk with the staff in the following areas of starting object activity: the organization and administration, maintenance, repair, engineering support, radiation protection, chemical shop, operating experience, training and qualifications of personnel, fire safety, emergency preparedness.

The experts will identify strengths and positive work practices, which have already taken place at the power unit ?3, and identify areas for improvement on the basis of made observations and interviews.

The WANO experts work on the launch site of the Rostov NPP will be completed on October 4.

The Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. At nuclear station two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt are operated. The power unit No. 1 is put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 Р in December, 2010.
