III International forum ATOMEXPO is over in Moscow

On June 8, III International forum ATOMEXPO-2011was over in Moscow.

A full-scale, 3-day event gathered more than 1,200 participants from 47 countries of the world. Malaysia, Sri-Lanka, Kuwait, Vietnam, Chili and Turkey could be noted among the new participating countries.

Top-managers of the leading nuclear companies and organizations of many countries, among them General Director of the World Nuclear Association John Rich, President of Japanese Nuclear Industrial Forum Takuya Hattori, General Director of the Service for Nuclear Power of Hungary Josef Ronak, President of the National Agency for Nuclear Power of Argentina Norma Louisa Boero, Chief Operation Director AREVA Luke Oursel and others, came to the forum.

Rosatom State Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko, Rosatom State Corporation First Deputies General Director Alexander Lokshin and Nikolay Solomon, Rosatom First Deputies General Director Tatyana Elfimiova, Kirill Komarov and Nikolay Spassky participated in the forum on behalf of the Russian party. Representatives of Ministries and Departments of Russia and foreign countries, representatives of power structures and the enterprises of adjacent branches took part in the event.

A specialized exhibition and congress ТDevelopment of the Nuclear Power Branch: Pause or Continuation?У was organized within the framework of the forum. The debate participants discussed the prospects of the nuclear power branch development, provision of the construction of nuclear power plants and the existing onesХ safety and international collaboration in the nuclear sphere. In particular, at the plenary session they noted that the development of the nuclear power industry in the world will continue in spite of the accident at the Japanese NPP. The opinion that the nuclear power industry in the world would continued its development in spite of the accident at the Japanese NPP was given by the heads of the nuclear departments of Hungary, Argentina, Lithuania, Canada and also by the representatives of AREVA French Company.

A number of important agreements were signed in the course of the forum.

Heads of the Russian Federation Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Rosatom State Corporation Sergey Lavrov and Sergey Kirienko signed the agreement ТOf the Order of the Direction and the Conditions of Rosatom State Corporation Representatives on the strength of Diplomatic Missions and Consular InstitutionsУ.

Tekhsnabexport OJSC and American Company PSEG Nuclear signed an agreement for supply of enriched uranium product to the USA. The contract volume will be equal to 200 mln dollars and provides  supplies in 2015-2016. The contract provides meeting the demands of the nuclear plants Salema-1 and Salema-2 in the USA.

On June 7, Atomstroyexport CJSC and Nukem Technologies signed annexation No. 2 to the contract for the accomplishment of the complex works on the engineering and the construction of units for radioactive wastes management for Belene NPP. The signs under the agreement were put by Atomstroyexport CJSC President, Head of the Agency on the Construction of NPP in Bulgaria Gennady Tiapkin and Nukem Technologies Management Director Ulf Kutcher.

A discussion about the future of the nuclear power industry was organized within the framework of ATOMEXPO International forum, which was held on June 6-8 in Moscow. The event has been already held for the third time. Compared with Atomexpo-2010 forum, in the current year the quantity of delegations has increased by 25%, and the exhibition space has increased for 15%. Largest Foreign Companies: EdF, Alstom, CEA, Siemens, CNNC, Kazatomprom were among the participants. Also such Russian Companies as Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL, Atomstroyexport CJSC, Atomenergomash GC, ARMZ Uranium Holding, Rosnano, Skolkovo Fund, E4 Group, FNK Group, VSMPO AVISMA and others will take part in the work of the exhibition.
