Environmental management system of the Kalinin NPP corresponds to the national standard

Environmental management system of the Kalinin NPP (Udomlya, Tver region) complies with the national standard GOST ? ISO 14001-2007. These are the results of an independent audit held at the NPP on March 14-18, 2011. Kalinin NPP is recommended to obtain Certificate of Conformity.


Within a week at the NPP certified audit of the Environmental Management System (EMS) for conformity with the requirements of the national standard of GOST R ISO 14001-2007 ТEnvironmental Management Systems. Requirements and Application ManualУ. 


Audit was held by an independent control systems certification agency of the LLC SSU ТDEKUESУ in the presence of observers from Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC and ТVNIIASУ.


During the stay at the Kalinin NPP the group of experts has received full idea about the NPPХs divisions and environmental management system they have. Auditors have studied EMS documentation of the main departments of the NPP and had a talk with the personnel. The main topics for discussions were awareness of the ecological policy, understanding by the NPPХs workers of their place and the place their specific division in the implementation of the main principles of the ecological policy. 


Obtaining by the Kalinin NPP of the Certificate of Conformity with the Environmental management system corresponding to the national standard GOST R ISO 14001-2007 will characterize the NPP not only as the guarantor of ecological safety, but will also prove to the fact that the enterprise pursues the vigorous activity aimed at increasing the ecological safety and observing the Environmental Law.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated in the north of Tver region in Udomlya district. Kalinin nuclear power plant comprises three operating power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) of 1,000 mW capacity each. Power unit No. 4 is under construction now and is to be commissioned in 2011.
