Emergency response exercises at the Rostov nuclear power plant will be held on July 21

Planned emergency training (ET) with participation of Group of emergency help for nuclear power plants will take place on July 21 at the Rostov nuclear power plant.

The training will be attended by structural units of the Rostov nuclear power plant, the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom", Group of emergency help for nuclear power plants, experts of Crisis Situation Center of the Rosatom, Information and Analytical Center of the Rostekhnadzor, as well as technical support center Nuclear Safety Institute, Kurchatov Institute, "Taifun" VNIIAES, FMBA of Russia.

During the training it will be tested the effectiveness of the system of emergency preparedness of the station, the willingness of staff and technical resources for localization and liquidation of consequences of emergency situation, improvement of cooperation between the involved agencies of emergency response with simulative technological scenario on a full-scale simulator of the training unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant.

The Rostov NPP during training will work normally. There will be no interference into work related to the training.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 Р in December, 2010. The power unit ?3 physical launch was in November 2014, energy launch - in December 2014. The power unit ?4 is being constructed.
