Delegation of Representatives of Foreign Mass Media Visits Kalinin NPP

On June 6, 2012 Kalinin NPP was visited by the delegation of representatives of foreign mass media. The visit took place within the IV International Forum ТAtomexpo-2012У.

The purpose of the press-tour was familiarization with the positive practice of construction and operation, safety aspects of the nuclear power plant, built on the Russian design.

Journalists from Great Britain, RSA, Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Hungary, Viet Nam, China and India have visited the industrial site of Kalinin NPP, educational and training subdivision, and Public Information Centre.

The representative of the delegation from the Republic of South Africa, Mzvandile Nelson Faniso, shared his impressions about the visit: ТI have seen significant impact of the plant on the economic development of the region. First of all, it is the largest employer: the plant, consisting of four units, provides employment for more than three thousand people. It is quite a lot, and it would be highly desirable for RSA, which plans to develop the nuclear industry. Staff training for nuclear power plants will also provide a significant impetus to the development of our country from the standpoint of training engineers who are necessary for the economy. This is a learning experience, which I would like to tell about to publicУ.

Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The Plant is situated on the north of the Tver Region in Udomelsk district. Kalinin NPP includes four power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) each one having the installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Implementation of the stage ТPilot OperationУ continues its realization on the 4th power unit, which start-up took place in November 2011.
