Balakovo NPP has discussed environmental issues at the Тround tableУ

On March 27, 2012 Public Information Centre of Balakovo NPP held Тround tableУ discussions with participation of teachers of ecology and biology of city schools, experts of the nuclear power plant, medics, representatives of supervision bodies, and members of ТChistaya EnergiyaУ press-club Р journalists of local and regional mass media.

The subject of the meeting coincided with the 20th anniversary of Rosenergoatom Concern Р Formation of Environmental Culture of Students in Conjunction with Educational Community. Reports of Vadim Kovyazin, a Deputy Head of radiation safety office of Balakovo NPP and Alla Bokova, a leading expert of environmental safety office, were related to issues of environmental safety of the nuclear power plant.

Operating with facts and figures, the speakers brought a range of arguments in favor of the following approval: Balakovo NPP is an ecologically clean enterprise. ТThis is confirmed by conclusions of Russian and foreign auditors, which annually check the plant for the conformity of its eco-management system with international standards,У stressed Alla Bokova.

She also noted that with the introduction of the company eco-management system, attacks against nuclear scientists from the "green" were significantly reduced, because the certification authorities impose stringent requirements on the parameters of environmental safety of the plant.

"Environmental education of students is a very important area of work of any educational institution,У said in her speech Zinaida Mikhailova, a Head of the municipal methodical association of teachers of biology. ТWe now have a huge store of information. And our goal is to use it in our teaching. I hope that these certainly fruitful meetings will hereafter be held by the Balakovo nuclear power plant, which, I note, is always ready to open dialogue with the public."

At the end of the round table, experts of Public Information Center of Balakovo NPP summed up the instaneous quiz "What do I know about nuclear power plant?", which was attended by school biologists and ecologists. Fifteen teachers, who correctly answered all the test questions, received gifts from the Balakovo nuclear power plant.
