Balakovo NPP First Recognized as Leader of High Technology in Health and Environment Protection
Balakovo NPP has become the owner of one more Р a new award in the field of ecology. For the active indicative activities in environment protection, environmental safety ensuring and environmental management, Balakovo NPP was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the All-Russian contest ТHi-Tech Leader in Health and Environment Protection -2012У, as well as the memorable Badge of Honor from RF PresidentХs Administration.
The awarding of the winners of the contest passed in the conference-hall of the Russian Federation PresidentХs Administration as part of the International Forum ТHumanХs Health and the EnvironmentУ, held at the initiative of the Committee on Health Protection of RF State Duma.
The Forum was organized by the representatives of the federal and regional public authorities, heads of leading non-governmental organizations, scientists and experts in the field of healthcare and environment protection.
ТOur nuclear power plant was added to the list of nominees of this prestigious contest on the basis of the decision of the Expert Board,У told Stanislav Ryazanov, a Chief of the Environment Protection Department of Balakovo NPP, who was present at the presentation of honorary awards in Moscow. Balakovo NPP is known since long ago, thatХs why it is invited for the participation in such prestigious contests. Once again we received high-level confirmation of our environmental safety, stability of work and equipment reliability, and personnel training quality.У
The environmental situation at Balakovo NPP location region is safe. The radiation background in the area of the nuclear power plant and the adjacent territory corresponds to the level of power unitsХ normal operation and does not exceed the natural environmental values from the beginning of its operation. This is confirmed by the conclusions of the Russian and foreign auditors, which annually inspect the plant for the compliance of its EMS with international standards, as well as the results of own production environmental monitoring, performed in full, provided by the regulation and monitoring of the environment.
One more serious step on improving of the environmental safety was done at Balakovo NPP in 2011 Р an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001:2007) was worked out and implemented at the plant. It is an internationally recognized tool for improving the performance of companies and reduction of risks for the personnel and population, living nearby the plant.
For the great and constant work in the environmental safety, Balakovo NPP was marked by many public and state awards. Beginning from 2007 (5 times in a row) the plant is recognized as the winner of the contest ТLeader of the Environmental Activities of RussiaУ. Also it won the second prize in the nomination ТEfficient Use of Resources and EcologyУ of the V All-Russian contest ТThe Russian Organization of High Social EfficiencyУ held by the Government of Russia. By the results of 2011, for the ninth time Balakovo NPP wins in the corporate contest ТThe Best NPP of RussiaУ.
