An operational conference has been held at the building site of the Baltic NPP to discuss the course of works of the preparatory period. 

Taking part in the conference  were: Director for capital construction of the ТRosenergoatom ConcernУ JSC Nikolay Pavlenko, General Director of the ТBaltic NPPУ JSC Yuri Shalimov, General Director of the ТSUSУ JSC Yuri Lebedev, Director of the ТRosenergoatom ConcernУ JSC Branch ТManagement of the Baltic NPP ProjectУ Nikolay Vlasenko, representatives of the ТSPB NPPУ JSC and subcontract organizations.

ТSUS JSC Branch Director which is a General Contractor, Alexander Scherikanov reported, that 30 objects are under construction now. The vertical lay-out of the industrial site and the building base are under way. Intercepting channels are half done now. As soon as the thaw sets in, the works will be liven up at the road entrance ? 1 Neman - the Baltic NPP. For the time being 3,3 km of roads have been built out of planned 4,6 km of the industrial site and  - 2,1 km out of planned 8,6 km of the building base. The fencing of the industrial site has already begun too.

Administrative and household facilities of the Customer and administrative and household facilities of the General Contractor are under way. The bridging is being concreted, flights of stairs are erected and the sandwich-panels coverings are mounted. These objects are planned to be commissioned in June this year. Concrete mixing plant ? 1 is completely finished; and the platform for inert materials is also prepared. There will be ready the beddings for plant ? 2 by the end of March. 

Since March, 15 the works have begun on the objects of the branch railway to the coal bunker warehouse. Here will be constructed weigh station for the railway transportation, cement intake unit and a ramp to receive inert materials. The beddings for metal fabric are under way, and installation of metal fabrics is carried out at the concrete-reinforcing manufacture site. Building of treatment facilities and electro supply networks are under way too.

The foundation stone of the Baltic nuclear power plant was laid on February 25, 2010 in the Neman area of the Kaliningrad region. It is constructed under the AES-2006 and it will consist of two power units with the total plant capacity of 2,300 MW. 

Commissioning of the first power unit is planned for 2016, the second one Р for 2018. It is intended to provide electric power for the Kaliningrad region and for export. For the first time in national nuclear power engineering, private investors, including foreign ones are offered to participate in the project. They can receive a share of up to 49 % in the Baltic NPP project. Now negotiations with potential investors are being held now.
