NPPs of Russia exceeded the state task of the FAS Russia for the power generation y almost 7%

Russian nuclear power plants (branches of Rosenergoatom - the Electric Power Division of Rosatom) generated more than 16.6 billion kilowatt-hours of power in February 2023, and in total since the beginning of 2023 - over 35.7 billion kWh. This is almost 7% or more than 2.3 billion kWh higher than the annual balance target of the FAS Russia*.

In total, the operation of all Russian NPPs since the beginning of this year has made it possible to prevent emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmospheric air in the amount of almost 17.5 million tons of CO2 equivalent (as of March 1, 2023).

Today, Rosenergoatom includes 11 operating NPPs as branches, 37 power units are in operation (including the floating power unit (FPU) of the FNPP as part of 2 reactor units) with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW.

For reference:

Today, Russia continues to provide stable energy security. The domestic fuel and energy complex works to increase the competitiveness of the national economy, contributes to the development and improvement of the country's regions, cities, towns, to improve the quality of life of citizens. The share of low-carbon power generation in the Russian energy sector is already about 40%. In the future, taking into account the growth in the share of nuclear generation, it will only grow.

* The annual balance target of the FAS Russia for the power and heat generation is formed for each power plant based on the forecasted generation of electricity and heat by all power plants in the country, taking into account their operating modes, repairs, external restrictions and other factors, as well as taking into account the forecast mode of consumption of power and heat.

Operational information on the radiation situation next to Russian NPPs and other facilities of the nuclear industry is available on the website
