Russian NPPs have generated more than 200 billion kWh and prevented the emission of more than 100 million tons of greenhouse gases

Power generation by power units of all 11 significant nuclear power plants in Russia (branches of Rosenergoatom, the Electric Power Division of the State Corporation Rosatom) has exceeded 200 million kWh since the beginning of 2022 (as of November 25).

This amount of generated power does not emit greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere in the amount of more than 100 million tons of CO2 equivalent.

Compared to the same period last year, the volume of power increased by 1.44%. The excess of the FAS plan from the beginning of 2022 is almost 3%. Installed capacity utilization factor (ICUF) is over 78%.

At the moment, Russian nuclear power plants produce about 20% of the total power generation in the country.

Let us recall that today, despite the external economic and political situation, environmental, social and effective management issues remain fundamental for the sustainable development of the country's regions, so Russia is consistently working on the transition to a "green" economy and energy, modernizing production to reduce emissions and there is a transition to a national monitoring system for climate-active substances. A complete transformation of production and consumption will make it possible to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and to zero by 2050.

Rosenergoatom is one of the largest enterprises in the electric power industry in Russia and the only company in the country that performs the functions of an operator of nuclear power plants. The main activities of the company are the production of electrical and thermal energy by nuclear power plants, as well as the operation of nuclear installations, radiation sources, storage facilities for nuclear materials and radioactive substances, performed in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation. Rosenergoatom includes 11 nuclear power plants in Russia, which have the status of its branches, as well as enterprises that support the activities of the generating company. At the moment, Russian nuclear power plants produce about 20% of the total power generation in Russia.
