Rosenergoatom: a unique photo exhibition dedicated to nuclear energy of Russia and France was presented in Moscow

On 7 September, 2017, the Multimedia Art Museum (Moscow) hosted a unique photo exhibition undergone within the framework of two nuclear energy world leaders’ joint project – Rosenergoatom Concern JSC and Électricité de France (EDF) (France).

The photo project titled Uniting Atom Energy. Russia and France is timed to coincide with the anniversary of Rosenergoatom Concern (a part of the Electric Energy Division of Rosatom SC), the largest power generating company in Russia and the world's second largest nuclear power generation company, which turned 25 on 7 September, 2017.

Almost all this time – which is more than 20 years – the Concern closely cooperates with EDF, French state-owned energy generating company, which is the world's largest operator of nuclear power plants and the European leader in the production of electric energy in literally all areas of nuclear power units operation – from working with the personnel, effective purchase organization and engineering to operation and insurance support.

To participate in this international photo project – which allows to show the entire scale of the production of the two nuclear energy leaders – 25 French and 5 Russian photographers were invited.
The French part of the exhibition presented a series of photo-reports about the work of the largest and most modern French nuclear power plants and the people of the industry. The Russian part of the exhibition was presented by five Russian photographers; each of them photographed one of the Russian nuclear power plants – Kursk, Rostov, Leningrad, Novovoronezh and Beloyarsk, to tell the audience their story.

While opening the photo exhibition Andrey Petrov, the Director General of Rosenergoatom Concern, said, “Today the Concern celebrates its 25th anniversary, and it is doubly pleasant that on this day we will present our joint project. For 23 years Rosenergoatom and EDF have been cooperating in many areas of production activities: both in terms of ensuring the safe work of the operating nuclear power plants in Russia and France, and in the fuel cycle, the construction of new power units and much more. This photo project is significant for us. Both Russian and French photographers have taken part in it. Its importance lies, among other things, in the fact that only few people can visit a nuclear power plant. And this exhibition gives everyone an opportunity to witness our production process, to see a nuclear power plant, its equipment and workers, and the entire unique world of modern nuclear power industry of Russia and France.”

In her turn the Director of the Multimedia Art Museum Olga Sviblova said, “Today Rosenergoatom is one of the pillars of the Russian economy and science. And by this joint project we tried to recreate the image of what is contained in your work. Today is a double holiday – the Concern’s 25th birthday and the anniversary of the Russo-French association. And this association is not only productive, but also culture-forming.”

The representative from the French side – the Director of the R&D Directorate for the New Project Engineering, co-chairman of the Coordinating Committee for Cooperation REA-EDF – Noel Kamarka said, “Over the past 25 years, the nuclear sector of electric energy industry in Russia has undergone a lot of changes. And it's a very high responsibility to showcase photos from the industry we represent. Implementing this project, we especially focused on showing the people working at nuclear power plants. I am confident that the exhibition will be a great success in the future.”

He also thanked everyone who participated in the project and expressed confidence that the implementation of joint projects of Rosenergoatom Concern and Électricité de France will continue in the further.
The Moscow photo exhibition Uniting Atom Energy. Russia and France will last until 10 September. Then it will be exhibited in all cities of Russian NPPs presence, and in 2018 it will be presented in the French capital – Paris.
