Rosenergoatom Concern plans to start the operation of the DPC’s first stage near Kalinin NPP in the town of Udomlya in December, 2017

The schedule for the end of construction, the readiness of the DPC – jointly constructed by Rosenergoatom Concern JSC and Rostelekom PJSC  – and for entering the distribution network of Kalinin NPP was discussed on 27 October, 2017, during a working visit by the Director General of Rosatom State Corporation Aleksey Likhachev in Udomlya.

The Director General of Rosatom was accompanied by the Director General of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC Andrey Petrov, his Deputy – Sergey Migalin, the Senior Vice-President of Rostelekom PJSC Vladimir Kirienko, and the Director General of Tsentr Khraneniya Dannykh LLC Pavel Kaplunov.

According to Sergey Migalin, the first control rooms of the DPC in Udomlya will be equipped with server capacities and start their operation in December. At present time the project partners discuss the possibility to establish the joint enterprise with united marketing and centralized DPC maintenance in the near future. This will allow Mendeleev DPC joint promotion at the market and create the basis for Rostelekom and Rosatom co-developing a digital product line . “Moreover, creating the referential facility of the large DPC – and later, maybe, water demineralized complexes and other facilities directly connected to the NPP distribution network and operated as a united energy complex – we solve the issue of possible replication of such infrastructural project at the foreign sites of NPP construction in the context of complex offer to the foreign countries as the united infrastructural energy-consuming cluster of service providers at the location area of the NPP”, Sergey Migalin noted.

Rosatom’s own capacities in the Phase I facilities include about 800 unified IT-racks of 7 kW. At the second phase of 2018/2019 the control rooms of Rostelekom will be additionally put into operation, in total there will be near 4,800 unified racks.

The Mendeleev Data Processing Centre is the joint investment project of Rosenergoatom Concern and Rostelekom PJSC. According to Aleksey Likhachev, the Data Centre in Udomlya will become one of the largest data centres in Russia and Europe. Taking into account the second phase its designed capacity can amount to 80 MW. “The Data Processing Centre will be used for provision of services for co-location of server hardware, storage and processing of the information, and the development of the cloud products. In fact, Udomlya becomes a digital capital”, the Director General of Rosatom State Corporation said.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.
