The representatives of the Turkish Industrial Chamber have visited the Leningrad NPP under construction

The representatives of the Ankara Industrial Chamber have paid a general visit to the Leningrad NPP’s new power block construction site. During the business trip, the guests have learned about the progress of the first VVER-1200 power block’s launch area construction and the installation of the main technological equipment and the power distribution scheme. The guests were greatly impressed by the 330-kilowatt switchboard, which is the last point in the process train of the electric power capacity output at the new Leningrad NPP’s power blocks.

“While representing the business community of Turkey, we are interested in studying different aspects of NPP construction, because we are planning to engage local companies for the upcoming Akkuyu NPP construction”, Nurretin Ozdebir, the head of the Ankara Industrial Chamber, told about the aim of their visit. “Another reason why we are here is to see the Russian technologies and training centers. I would like to say that I admire the way the Leningrad NPP’s new power block construction site is organized. I believe there are lots of things we should learn from you. Recently, Istanbul has hosted the World Energy Congress where the presidents of Russian and Turkey met. During the meeting, they agreed that the Akkuyu NPP construction project will be accelerated. At the moment, the team working at the Akkuyu NPP construction site is busy with the water catchment and onshore facilities system, and we intend to stick to the plan”.

During their visit to the Leningrad nuclear power plant, the guests have also learned about the way the operative staff is trained to work at both the operating power blocks and the ones under construction. Besides, they had a chance to see the functional capabilities of the full-scale simulator of the Leningrad NPP.

The Leningrad NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based in the city of Sosnovy Bor, 40 km to the west from Saint Petersburg at the Gulf of Finland shore. The Leningrad NPP is the first Russian nuclear power plant having RBMK-1000 reactors (uranium-graphite channel-type thermal neutron reactors). The NPP exploits 4 power blocks with the electric capacity of 1000 megawatt each. Also, pursuant to the NPP-2006 project, 1,2 VVER-1200 power blocks included into The State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM long-term plan are being constructed. Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC is the owner and developer of the project. Holding TITAN-2 is the primary contractor. ATOMPROEKT is the general designer.
