The power unit ?3 of the Kalinin NPP unplugged

On July 27 at 3:00 29 minutes the power unit ? 3 of the Kalinin NPP was stopped by the automatic protection equipment. Reasons for tripping are being investigated.

There are three power units in work at the moment on the Kalinin NPP. Their total capacity is 3064 MW. Radiation background in the vicinity of the nuclear power plant and the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power, and does not exceed the natural background values.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.
