The period of equipment acceptance control for power unit No 4 under construction at Rostov NPP has been optimized

The Plant Manager of Rostov NPP Andrey Salnikov approved the schedule of equipment acceptance control expected to take place at the power unit No 4 construction site this January. Generally, the equipment consists of the machine room and the reactor compartment equipment.

Acceptance control includes equipment quality verification and the assessment of its compliance with technical requirements, the project and the existing rules of Russian Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service. It is performed both before and during the assembly. Schedule compliance is controlled by the Capital Projects Deputy Manager of Rostov NPP Alexey Fedotov.

“The launch of power unit No 4 is scheduled for this year. The schedule is tight, and the time spent on the acceptance of the equipment before its issuing to the assembly is very valuable. We use daily schedule; we have identified the Rostov NPP designated managers that would carry out the incoming equipment acceptance control quickly and efficiently. In addition, we’ve created a preparation task group for the important process step – the cleanout of the systems to the open reactor. The start of the cleanout operations is planned for February”, Alexey Fedotov explained talking about the construction progress.

The meeting of the Rostov NPP construction department where priorities in preparation for the power unit No 4 launch will be identified is scheduled on 20 January.

The Rostov NPP is an affiliate company for Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is based at the Tsymlianskoe reservoir shore 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. The NPP operates VVER-1000 reactors with the installed capacity of 1000 megawatts. The power block No.1 commenced commercial operations in 2001, with the second and the third power blocks to follow in 2010 and on September 17, 2015, respectively. The power block No. 4 is currently under construction.
