The Rostov nuclear power plant: the power unit No. 1 is switched on into a network

On November 12, 2013, at 13:54 the power unit No. 1 of the Rostov nuclear power plant was switched on into the network after carrying out planned repair work on the steam generator No. 1.

On November 6 at 15:30 according to the submitted request approved with Interconnected dispatching office by power supply systems of the Russia South and the operating JSC «Rosenergoatom» Concern organization, the power unit No. 1 was disconnected from the network with subsequent unloading and cooling for carrying out planned repair work on the steam generator No. 1.

The Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. At nuclear station two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt are operated. The power unit No. 1 is put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010.

The radiation background around an arrangement of the nuclear station and the adjacent territory is at the level corresponding to normal operation of power units, and doesn't exceed natural background values.
