The Rostov NPP: power unit ?3 successfully tested for tightness and strength

At the construction site of the Rostov NPP power unit ?3 containment zone was successfully tested for leaks and density. Specialists of the JSC "Atomtechenergo", JSC "Sesame" and curators from the reactor department of the Rostov nuclear power plant within three days WERE checking the technical condition of structures and systems, air-tight enclosures excess internal pressure of 4.6 kg cm2. This test is an important measure in ensuring the environmental safety of the territory adjacent to the station.

 Now the unit is prepared for the test - a "hot" run-in. Upon completion of the tests an audit of the equipment will be carried out, followed by access to the stage of fuel loading and first criticality unit.
      
The start-up of the power unit ?3 of the Rostov NPP is scheduled for 2014.

he Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. At nuclear station two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt are operated. The power unit No. 1 is put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010.
