Public presentation of the report on the environmental safety of the nuclear power plant in 2014 was held in the Information Centre of the Rostov NPP. The leaders of the city administration, deputies of Volgodonsk City Duma, the Legislative Assembly of the Don, representatives of enterprises and organizations, the business community, as well as journalists get acquainted with  the materials of the document on May 18, 2015.

Report was represented by the Head of environment protection department of the NPP Olga Gorskaya, she stressed: "Last year was significant for our station, because launch and inclusion into the network of the power unit ?3 were done. And the report on the environmental safety characterizes the most important areas of environmental activities of the enterprise in 2014. It includes the documentary confirmed information about the impact of industrial activity of the Rostov nuclear power plant on the environment, about production and environmental control measures to reduce the negative impact of production factors on the population and nature".

Materials of the report contain complete information on the environmental management system and quality management, as well as details of the results about comprehensive radiation and environmental monitoring of the NPP’s area.

Acquainted with the basic materials of the environmental report the deputies actively asked questions and received satisfactory answers.

The Volgodonsk City Duma Chairman Peter Gorchanyuk thanked nuclear scientists for the public presentation of the document and noted that such actions again demonstrate the commitment of the Rostov nuclear power policy of openness and transparency as reports allow the public to receive accurate and complete information on the activities of the nuclear power plant in the area of radiation and environmental safety.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 – in December, 2010. Physical launch of the power unit ?3 was in November 2014, energy launch - un December 2014. The power unit ?4 is being constructed.
