The Kolskaya nuclear power plant: visit of the general inspector

The Kolskaya nuclear power plant was visited on October 9 by the general inspector of JSC «Rosenergoatom» Concern Nikolay Sorokin and the chief of the safety inspection department of the nuclear power plant Pavel Medvedev.

Visit is connected with preparation to coming in November of this year  scheduled complex inspection of the Kolskaya nuclear station, and also with implementation of new methodical approaches to carrying out checks of the nuclear power plant safety.

Complex inspections of the operational safety condition are made at nuclear stations according to the annual schedule of Concern. As a rule, the commission gives an assessment of the operating organization and to resource management, preparation of nuclear station for expected emergency situations and safety control.

«All the nuclear power plants in «Rosenergoatom Concern» carry out the production tasks set for them, – Nikolay Sorokin told. – But I allocate the Kolskaya nuclear power plant as the station taking high places in tender on a rank «Best nuclear power plant»; and that for me is especially important, the numerous winner in tender on a rank of the best nuclear power plant of Russia in the field of culture of safety».

The general inspector held a working meeting with a station management, chiefs of the main divisions and departments. Gathered considered the directions of future check, discussed organizational matters: working structures of the commissions, routes of bypasses.

The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in 200 km to the South from Murmansk on the shore of the Lake Imandra. It develops about 60% of the electric power of Murmansk region. There are 4 power units in operation with reactors of type VVER 440 MW each. The Kolskaya nuclear power plant is the supplier of the electric power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
